SAWRO would like to organize a consultation with men (ages 30+) community members from East Danforth neighborhoods on issues of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevalent in our society. The discussion will focus on the domestic, workplace, and financial violence faced by both women and men. In the discussion, we will focus on the nature of GBV and why it continues to plague many people. We will also discuss recommendations and solutions to prevent GBV.

Understanding the Multidimensional Impacts of COVID-19 on Low-income and Precariously Employed Immigrant Women

SAWIS would like to share our report, titled: “Understanding the Multidimensional Impacts of COVID-19 on Low-Income and Precariously Employed Immigrant Women”.

This report was produced from data collected from 7 focus group discussions and 100+ survey participants from the East-Danforth community and presents a summary of various topics regarding impacts experienced by low-income and precariously employed immigrant women.

This report is an initial summary and a more comprehensive report will be officially published at a later date. Please see the attached document below for the full summary report.

Pandemic Impact on Bangladeshi Immigrant Women

Please see the attached infographic outlining the Pandemic Impact on Bangladeshi Immigrant Women. The data presented were collected and summarized from the findings of surveys completed by 227 community women from December 2020 to May 2021 to assess the impact of COVID-19 on employment, social benefits, and the overall wellbeing of the community members.
